What is your go-to breakfast?
Do you eat the same thing for breakfast every morning? I pretty much do. And as much as I love what I eat, sometimes I want to mix things up a little bit.
These 25 Whole30 and paleo breakfast ideas are perfect for changing things up! They’re all Whole30 compliant and paleo, which means they’re also gluten-free, grain-free, and refined sugar-free.
That’s a big deal when the standard American breakfast is cereal and milk – aka, gluten and grains, dairy, and sugar!
I love that all of these Whole30 and paleo breakfast ideas also incorporate fruits and/or veggies. The more nutrients, antioxidants, and fiber we can pack into our day of eating, the better.
They also incorporate protein and healthy fats really well, whether with eggs, avocado, meats, nuts, or coconut.
You can make some of these Whole30 and paleo breakfast ideas really quickly. Others of them will work well to make ahead of time, then reheat (or eat cold) each morning.

Sweet Breakfast Bowls
Sweet Potato Breakfast Bowl by Healthy Liv
This Whole30 and paleo breakfast bowl tastes similar to sweet potato casserole. It’s perfect for making ahead. You’ll just need to bake your sweet potatoes, then serve with honey or banana, raisins, chopped nuts, cinnamon, and almond butter.
I am excited to try this recipe, because I’m already a huge fan of putting almond butter on my baked sweet potatoes!
Easy Apple Cinnamon Hot “Cereal” by Paleo Running Momma
This hot apple cinnamon cereal doesn’t actually have any grains. The process of making it is similar to making oatmeal on the stove-top. It’s easy to make in a few minutes in the morning, or you can make it ahead and reheat it.
You cook the apples and nuts in some coconut oil on the stove, then add almond milk, raisins, coconut, and cinnamon.
It reminds me of apple cobbler – so yummy!
Grain-Free Oatmeal by Something Swanky
This delicious grain-free “oatmeal” doesn’t actually contain oatmeal at all, but it has a similar consistency.
It’s made by blending apples, dates, chia seeds, coconut, and almonds in a food processor. She suggests topping it with almond butter and cashew milk.
Whole30 Breakfast Bowl by Bravo for Paleo
This Whole30 and paleo breakfast bowl is made by cooking a batter made with mashed bananas, eggs, and vanilla extract in a skillet.
Then you just top it with coconut, sliced apples, coconut, cinnamon, or anything else you want!
Savory Breakfast Bowls
Mashed Cauliflower Breakfast Bowl by Grass Fed Salsa
This blogger, Anne Marie, insists that the mashed cauliflower in this Whole30 paleo breakfast bowl tastes a lot like mashed potatoes. Sounds amazing to me!
Making the mashed cauliflower, sautéed mushrooms, and bacon ahead of time will make this a super quick and easy breakfast bowl to throw together with some arugula.
Breakfast Egg Roll in a Bowl by Paleo Running Momma
This Whole30 and paleo breakfast will be really easy to throw together ahead and reheat during the week.
All you have to do is cook the breakfast sausage, then add the cabbage, carrots, and kale (buy them pre-shredded to make this quick), and some sesame oil and coconut aminos, scallions and garlic.
When you’re ready to eat it, she recommends frying up an egg or two to top your bowl.
Pesto Cauliflower Rice Breakfast Bowls by A Saucy Kitchen
This pesto cauliflower rice bowl is really simple – but looks delicious! All you need to do is make your cauliflower rice, add pesto, then throw it in a bowl with spinach, avocado, and fried egg.
Breakfast Bakes and Casseroles
Whole30 Breakfast Casserole by One Clever Chef
This is a really simple breakfast casserole that’s made with eggs and lots of veggies. It won’t store very well with the avocados baked in, so he recommends using bell peppers or another veggie in its place if you want to freeze or reheat.
Slow Cooker Egg Bake with Bacon and Hash Browns by Whole Kitchen Sink
I am making more slow cooker recipes all the time, because I love throwing ingredients in and forgetting about it until it’s done.
This slow cooker egg bake only takes 2-2.5 hours in the slow cooker. All you need to throw in are eggs, hash browns, bacon, veggies, and some coconut milk. It looks so good and will reheat really well!
Buffalo Chicken Breakfast Casserole by Plaid & Paleo
I love that this Whole30 and paleo breakfast casserole combines buffalo chicken, eggs, and sweet potatoes. It’s really simple to make with just a few ingredients, and will reheat really well throughout the week.
(You can find another of my favorite buffalo chicken and sweet potato recipes over at the Real Food Dietitians blog.)
Quiche Lorraine with Hash Brown Crust by 40 Aprons
I wasn’t familiar with the term “Quiche Lorraine” before coming across this recipe. But it’s a French term for a quiche that contains bacon.
This quiche is set apart because of its hash brown crust. Instead of cheese, it contains nutritional yeast, which is an ingredient that tastes like cheese, but it’s entirely vegan. Nutritional yeast is extremely high in nutritional value. You can buy it on Amazon, or in a lot of grocery stores.
Spaghetti Squash Breakfast Casserole by Jay’s Baking Me Crazy
This egg casserole combines spaghetti squash with bacon, mushrooms, green onions, and tomatoes. It looks amazing!
If you have an Instant Pot, she tells you how to bake the spaghetti squash in just 7 minutes. (Or you can follow other instructions to bake it in the oven, but it will take much longer.) You then combine all the ingredients, and bake. This will be another great recipe to reheat throughout the week.
Breakfast Skillets
Pulled Pork Sweet Potato Hash with Eggs by 2 Teaspoons
I ordered a pulled pork and sweet potato veggie hash every time I went to a brunch restaurant while I was living in Ohio, so I was really excited when I found this recipe! The combination of pork and sweet potatoes is so delicious.
I’d fry the eggs separately if you want to be able to reheat this breakfast throughout the week. Zucchini would be a delicious veggie to add in, as well.
Chipotle Taco Breakfast Skillet Bake by Paleo Running Momma
This simple Whole30 and paleo breakfast skillet is made with beef, yummy seasonings, spinach, tomatoes, and eggs. The fried plantains are a separate recipe, but they look amazing and like they’d be a perfect addition!
I’d recommend doubling or even tripling this recipe if you want leftovers.
Sweet Breakfasts
Pumpkin Apple Breakfast Bake by Wholesomelicious
I grew up eating baked oatmeal and french toast casserole whenever my family had a special brunch together. Eating paleo, I miss them a lot.
I tried this pumpkin apple breakfast bake and was honestly amazed at how yummy it was! It’s just the right amount of sweet, with a really nice texture and lots of flavor. This will be a repeat recipe for me, for sure.
It’s made with pumpkin, apples, eggs, coconut milk, banana for sweetness, spices, and pecans.
Strawberry Coconut Breakfast Bake by Wholesomelicious
Since this recipe was made by the same blogger as the previous recipe that I love, I can’t wait to try it. It has a base of eggs, nut milk, coconut, and walnuts. Banana is added for sweetness, plus strawberries, coconut oil, chia seeds, and cinnamon.
Breakfast Pumpkin Custard by Louisiana Bride
This recipe is really similar to the pumpkin apple bake, but I wanted to also include it, because it has rave reviews in the comments.
This pumpkin custard is made with pumpkin, eggs, coconut milk, nuts, bananas for sweetness, and almond butter.
Breakfast Baked Sweet Potatoes with Almond Butter, Banana, and Chia by Ambitious Kitchen
Any recipe with drippy nut butter captures my attention. I think this is an ingenious breakfast idea!
All you have to do is bake some sweet potatoes, then top them with almond butter, banana, and chia seeds. If you haven’t tried putting nut butter on sweet potatoes before, I highly recommend it.
Unique Breakfasts
Shakshuka by Downshiftology
Shakshuka is a dish that is common in the Mediterranean and Middle East. It has a tomato sauce base with spices and peppers, then you bake in eggs.
If you’re going to reheat this, I’d recommend frying the eggs separately.
Zucchini Noodles with Everything Pesto and Fried Egg by Faith Food Fitness
This Whole30 and paleo breakfast recipe includes homemade pesto that you mix with zucchini noodles. Then you add a fried egg on top.
If you wanted to really simplify this recipe, you could buy pesto that’s already been made in the store. You can use a spiralizer to make your zucchini noodles or “zoodles.” The one I’ve linked to is the one I personally use!
Chilaquiles with Sweet Potatoes by 40 Aprons
Chilaquiles are typically a Mexican dish with fried tortilla strips topped with tomato sauce and cheese. In this Whole30 and paleo version, sweet potatoes are subbed for the tortillas. Shredded chicken and salsa is added, plus lots of toppings.
Breakfast Fried Cauliflower Rice by Paleo Running Momma
This is another (in my opinion) genius and creative breakfast idea. This fried rice is made with cauliflower, plus bacon, onion, pepper, broccoli, and, of course, eggs. Coconut aminos and Trader Joe’s Everything Bagel Seasoning give it lots of extra flavor.
If you’re not familiar, coconut aminos are a gluten-free and soy-free alternative to soy sauce. It has a really similar flavor, but is made from coconut sap. I personally really enjoy it.
Whole30 Sausage Gravy by Jay’s Baking Me Crazy
This Whole30 and paleo breakfast sausage gravy is served over potatoes instead of biscuits, and looks absolutely delicious.
You’ll just need breakfast sausage, nut milk, almond flour, and tapioca flour, plus some spices.
Whole30 Blueberry Breakfast Sausages by Jay’s Baking Me Crazy
I love the idea of adding blueberries to breakfast sausage to give it a sweet and tangy flavor. This Whole30 and paleo breakfast sausage is made with ground turkey, blueberries, and just a couple of other ingredients.
Loaded Brunch Burger by Real Food with Dana
I can’t imagine how messy this would be to eat, and it seems pretty time-consuming to make, but it looks crazy good, so I had to include it in my list.
If you prepare the chicken burgers, bacon, crispy spiralized sweet potatoes, and guacamole in a bigger batch, you could easily assemble one of these each morning. You can add extra lime juice to the guacamole to help it preserve better.
