Week 10 was a week of a lot of growth for us!
Group Boards
We have applied to about 60 group boards in all, across many different topics including food, DIYs, frugal living, and healthy living. Of the ones we applied to we’ve been accepted to 8 so far. That’s not a lot, but we celebrate every single one because each acceptance multiplies our reach! We got 30 new followers this week, bringing our total up to 145. I think that growth is largely because of our acceptance to new group boards. That’s by far the most we’ve ever gotten in a week’s time!
Facebook Group
In addition, I started to get a bit involved in a Facebook group called Simple Pin Pinterest Strategy Group. It’s been extremely helpful so far! It’s a group of a lot of bloggers who use Pinterest to drive traffic (like me), so they all share tips and ask questions and talk about what’s working and what doesn’t. One very kind lady in the group offered to add me to four of her group boards, so that was exciting! I’ve learned a lot just by reading threads in that group.
One of the things I found out from that group is that a lot of people say you shouldn’t pin more than 30-50 pins in a day for optimal exposure and growth. I had no idea, and since I’ve been pinning more than that most days I decided to cut back my pinning to fit in that range and see if it helps. Whether it does help or not is to be determined. Now, instead of pinning as soon as I find something, I started using a secret “Pin later” board to save only the best pins I find to then pin only during optimal pinning hours. Using that board I’m being a lot more intentional with pin descriptions when I pin as well.
Creating Pins
I also spent time this week researching how to make the best possible pins. Ryan wants to use Photoshop to design them, which he already had. It’ll be a bit more of a learning curve than using a free option like PicMonkey, but I think it will pay off in the long-term!
Next week we will be in LA and San Diego for Ryan’s work – we are so excited! I’m going to keep applying to group boards, and hopefully we’ll get some quality Instagram posts from our trip for our blog account (we’ve been slacking).
