This update’s going to be a quick one because this week was pretty uneventful!
We spent this whole week in Ohio. Time flew by! We spent most of our evenings on the blog, so I put in almost 40 hours this week which felt great. It’s awesome to have a “job” I love enough to not mind working evenings!
Pinterest and Instagram
Our Pinterest and Instagram growth weren’t impressive this week. We’re up 20 followers on Pinterest and up 18 followers on Instagram. Our Pinterest numbers are low overall, and honestly we’re struggling a bit to come up with creative Instagram posts when our scenery and day to day life is pretty unchanging at the moment. But it’s a good challenge! I’m not going to worry about Pinterest until we’re sharing our own content, and I know Ryan will rise to the challenge on the Instagram front.
Designing Pins
This is what I’m excited about! I’m really enjoying the challenge of designing pins. We’re aiming to create 4-5 pins per post so we can test all of them and see which will do the best, then promote the highest performing pins. This has been the focus of my time. It’s been encouraging going back to some of the pins I made in the beginning (and thought were really good) and realizing how much I’ve already improved. Creating pins for the rest of the posts we’re launching with is my goal for this week!
Uploading Posts to Wordpress
Ryan’s focus this week has been uploading my written posts to WordPress, tweaking the design, editing and proofreading, and optimizing for SEO. I’ll be honest, I don’t really know all that goes into this, and I’m really glad it’s him doing it and not me! It takes a lot of time and focus, but he is doing an incredible job.
Next Week
Next week will be crunch time, because we only have two weeks left before our goal launch date, and Ryan will be gone on a work trip most of next week! Our focus will continue to be creating pins and uploading our posts, then getting our site’s design just how we want it.
I’m also going to be doing research on what pin scheduler to use. I’ve read positive things about both Board Booster and Tailwind, so I want to figure out which one will work best for us. Figuring out how to use it will be the next hurdle!
We’re feeling so excited about our progress! I just can’t wait for it to be live, to be able to watch our numbers and growth, and to see something actually coming of all our hard work!
