These affordable and natural cosmetics are excellent alternatives to mainstream products that are full of chemicals and toxins.
A couple of years ago, I thought my cosmetics were perfectly safe. But I found out that in reality, they were actually full of toxins and chemicals! Those toxins were easily finding their way into my body through my skin. (Skin is very porous!)

Now I use a website to research how toxic products are based on their ingredients. It’s called The Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) Skin Deep Database. (EWG is a widely-respected organization doing intensive research to help us rid our lives of toxins.) Products are rated on a scale from 1-10. The lower the rating, the less toxic the product is.
As an example, EWG shows that Maybelline’s The Falsies Waterproof Mascara contains three different kinds of parabens. Parabens are toxins that have been found in breast cancer tumors, and they may disrupt female hormones. Unfortunately, many beauty brands contain these sorts of toxins.
The SOLUTION
Since finding out about these kinds of toxins in my products, I have been switching out my products for clean and natural cosmetics. This list contains my top 12 non-toxic and natural cosmetics that I love and personally use on a daily basis. All these natural cosmetics have very low (clean and toxin-free) ratings according to EWG!
It’s well-known that natural beauty products can be expensive. But the best part about this list is that none of these products cost more than $15.50!

Why I love it | This all-natural shampoo gets my hair very clean without drying it out. I have fine hair and I love my hair’s texture when using it! Plus, it smells really good.

Why I love it | Don’t expect a shaving cream, or even a gel. This is a brown soap that lathers up and provides for a slick and clean shave! A little goes a long way. I used to only shave with water because my skin is not sensitive. If your skin is sensitive you may want something thicker.

Bragg USDA Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

Why I love it | I use an apple cider vinegar and water combination as a substitute for conditioner in the shower, and it makes my hair shiny and soft. This BPA-free and lead-free bottle on Amazon is a perfect (and attractive) spray bottle to use. (Don’t worry, your hair won’t smell like vinegar!)

Bali Secrets Natural Deodorant, Unscented

Why I love it | I have tried so many natural deodorants, and overall they just haven’t worked as well as mainstream deodorants. But let me tell you, those toxins in mainstream deodorant are toxic for our bodies! Going natural is worth it. This natural deodorant works better than any others I’ve tried. Natural deodorants aren’t meant to stop you from sweating, because sweating is good and necessary for your body. But they are meant to keep you from smelling.

Why I love it | I use the fennel flavor, which is sweet and smells and tastes great! Switching to this toothpaste from mainstream was a bit of an adjustment, but now I love it. It leaves my teeth feeling clean and smooth, and my breath lastingly fresh.

Why I love it | I only wash my hair every other day, but since it’s fine it gets oily quickly. So, dry shampoo is essential for me. I sprinkle this powder in my roots, then blend it with a boar bristle brush. It leaves my hair looking clean!

Why I love it | This foundation spreads evenly over my skin with a very clean and non-oily feel. It hides blemishes well and makes my skin look clear! I’ve gotten a couple of friends hooked on this product already. Additionally, it has an SPF of 20. I have very fair skin and use the light color, which blends year-long. Also, one tube can last me for months.

Why I love it | I love the way this mascara keeps my eye lashes clump-free and lengthens them. I’ve had no problems with it smudging or flaking. Still, it’s very easy to remove. This is a bit pricey for me, but mascara is the makeup item I care about the most, and it is far better than other natural mascaras I’ve tried. I use the brown color because it looks more natural with my light hair and skin.
