Hi! I am Cassandra, the blogger behind Uncommonly Well. I’m so glad you’re here!
Uncommonly Well was created after (literally) years of dreaming of starting a lifestyle blog. My dream is for this space to be a source of inspiration for a life lived abundantly.
I believe wellness involves much more than our physical bodies – living well means caring for your body, mind, and soul. That’s why Uncommonly Well will be full of wellness topics, real food recipes, and natural living tips, as well as travel tips, because travel is so good for the soul!
Food
Trying new foods is one of my absolute favorite activities. I choose to eat cleanly (avoiding processed foods, gluten, and sugars) because I’ve experienced how much better my body thrives without that stuff. I happen to think real food tastes better anyway!
Lifestyle
I share green, sustainable, and simple living tips because I’m in process of learning to live this way! Even when it’s inconvenient, I want to live responsibly and conscious of my impact on the environment, other people, and my own overall health.
Travel
Finally, I’m obsessed with travel. Ok, that’s an understatement. I am very obsessed with travel. So I’ll definitely be sharing my best travel tips along the way too!
A bit about me…
I grew up on a farm in small-town Ohio (we’re talking no stoplight or gas station!). I’m the baby in a family of six, and I have heaps of beautiful nieces and nephews. I got married in December of 2020!
I’ve always been one to push the boundaries of what’s normal – I graduated from high school and college early, and went alone to Istanbul, Turkey to be an au pair (cross-cultural nanny) twice during college. My partner and I have lived in seven countries and counting, while working remotely full-time.
You can read all about my journey with food intolerances and digestive issues in my post, Cassandra’s Food Journey. I started having digestive issues in college and found out I was gluten intolerant. When cutting out gluten was no longer enough and I was still having problems, I started to learn about healing my body holistically. As I’ve learned about clean eating, I’ve found I absolutely love to cook, and discovered that eating paleo (basically grain-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free) helps my body thrive best. However, I hate diet talk (thanks to my history of disordered eating) and live the philosophy that all foods should be enjoyed in moderation!
